The JJX Story
Our story began back in 1997 when our founder started out with a single van and an operations centre in the spare bedroom of his house in Willenhall. 26 years later and the company has grown into one of the industry leaders for same day deliveries in the UK with specialisation in dangerous goods and an unwavering approach to supply chain security and resilience. During that time we have witnessed plenty of change both in the transport industry and beyond.
We have had homes all over the West Midlands finally moving into our 175,000 sq ft site back in 2019, seen the fleet grow from one to fifty, covered tens of millions of miles across the continent and supported over 20 charities over the years in the Black Country region. Despite all this, we still maintain our core pillar today that JJX was founded on and that is putting our customers at the core of our operations, constantly adapting to meet their needs no matter how small or how complex the solution is.
As we fast approach 2024 having just about recovered from an unprecedented global pandemic and the shake up of European transport caused from Brexit, it has been a perfect time to reflect on where we have come from in light of a record setting 2023 which ended with being named the Black Country region's Business of the Year at the annual BCC awards.
2009
JJX Small Haul merged with Express Light Haulage changing the company name to JJX Logistics introducing a new focus on same delivery solutions throughout Europe.
2014
January
Established our first total supply chain fulfilment service following our relocation to Wolverhampton city centre into our first warehouse facility on Cooper Street.
September
We were invited to join the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT), the largest logistics organisation in the world with over 33,000 active members today. Our Managing Director John Donovan was also elected as a Chartered Member of the prestigious institute.
November
With a growing focus on supply chain security, we also joined the Transported Asset Protection Association as a Corporate Member after attending the TAPA EMEA Conference in Brussels.
2016
January
Relocated to Unit 40 on the Pensnett Trading Estate, one of the largest trading estates in Europe, based here in Kingswinford growing our warehouse capacity five-fold.
2017
Increased the efficiency and service of our European offering as we became an Authorised Economic Operator.
2020
November
Our Managing Director John Donovan was honoured as the Black Country region's Business Hero of the Year at the annual BCC Awards for his selfless fundraising efforts during the height of the COVID pandemic.
2021
May
Following a successful trial with two of our vehicles, we rolled out Samsara's fully integrated industry leading fleet management software across our entire fleet providing real time data tracking on every delivery.
2022
June
Joined the West Midlands branch of the Armed Forces Covenant, signing a pledge to support our staff and their families who have served in the Armed Forces, treating them with fairness and respect balancing their work/life balance with their service for the country.
December
After months of hard work, we were granted Customs Bonded approval by HMRC on our warehouse facility.
What to expect in 2024
After a very busy record breaking and award winning 2023, we are very excited for what the New Year will hold with plenty of plans in the pipeline across both our transport, storage and full supply chain solutions. As we look to continue leading the way in the handling of dangerous goods and security profile for high value loads, we hope to continue growing out partnerships with some of the countries leading service providers and industry governing organisations.
